November 05, 2011 (Knoxville, TN) The University of Tennessee Men's Rugby Team welcomed alumni back to campus for Homecoming 2011 with two spirited contests plus other various events.

Welcome Reception
The 2011 Homecoming weekend began with a Friday evening reception and cookout for alumni and Old Boys at the home of Butch Robertson. Over 40 were in attendance to help successfully kick off the weekend.

Reserve Match
Tennessee opened the day with a spirited contest against the Old Boys featuring 4 15-minute periods. Both teams took full advantage of rolling substitution so that everyone got ample playing time. After an even contest over the first 30 minutes, the Old Boys broke it open with 4 unanswered tries.

Old Boys in the game: Reysheid Mata, Steve Spinosa, Tyler Huskey, Greg Broyles, Kevin Blalock, Mark Wenger, Scott Sandman, Mike Weldon, Jared Huisingh, Stuart Deaderick, Chris Gower, Tom Abernathy, Andy Allen, plus a few of the Old Boys that played in the Varsity match.

Varsity Match
The undergrads used pace and fitness to open up a close and contentious match in the second half. The first 30 minutes featured bruising play with both teams attempting to prove their metal. Halftime adjustments and a shifting focus seemed to provide opportunities in the second half as the Volunteer backline began to find space.

Post Match
After the two matches were completed, the undergrads and Old Boys retired to the sidelines and enjoyed a cookout and fellowship.
