Michael Weldon Email: mweldon@tennesseerugby.com Michael Weldon, a Nashville native (Montomery Bell Academy), was introduced to rugby as a first year student at the University of Tennessee in 1993. He played for UT through 1997 and then after graduation had brief stops playing with Chattanooga and Memphis Rugby Clubs. In 2001 Coach Weldon began his teaching career at Farragut High School where he helped found the high school boys rugby team. In 2003 Weldon moved to Karns High school where he continued coaching both the boys and girls rugby teams through 2009. From 2001 through 2009 Weldon also was head coach of the high school wrestling team. Coach Weldon also played for the local senior men's team, the Knoxville Rugby Club, upon his return to Knoxville in 2001 through 2009. In 2008 Coach Weldon also served as a part time assistant coach for the University of Tennessee. He left Karns High School in 2009 and now is a representative of Cengage Publishing. He returned as an assistant coach for the Volunteer coaching staff in 2011. Coach Weldon and his wife Jenny have one son, Grey. |
