Volunteers Reserves win 2009 SEC Championship
October 24, 2009 (Birmingham, Alabama) Tennessee reserves defeated the LSU reserves to win the 2009 SEC B side Championship on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama. Sophomores accounted for all the scoring for the Volunteers as lock Matt Neuhart and wing Mason Howard each crossed the try line while flyhalf Gareth Dobbs added a penalty kick and conversion.

Tennessee reached the championship match with convincing wins over the reserve teams from South Carolina and Georgia.
