Volunteers sweep weekend with victories over UNCG and Nashville
October 09, 2009 (Knoxville, Tennessee) — Tennessee battled the elements and a stubborn UNCG defense to overtake the Spartans on Friday night. The Volunteers scored four first half tries and then hung on through three separate weather delays and a offensive surge by UNCG for the win. UNCG, coached by UT Old Boy Jeremy Linne, stopped off in Knoxville on the opening day of their three day fall break tour through East Tennessee.
October 10, 2009 (Nashville, Tennessee) — The Volunteers score three tries in the second half to break open a tight contest and claim a hard fought victory over the Nashville Rugby Club. Tennessee outscored Nashville 7 tries to 3 in what has turned into a very hotly contested annual event. Special thanks to Nashville RFC for the great post match hospitality offered to the Volunteers that included plenty of good food and a chance for the players to mingle with Nashville RFC club members, parents and old boys.
UT Old Boys spotted at the park in Nashville: Chris Gower, Chris Mott, Bill Peterson, Michael Ree, Andy Wiske, Will Hoeppner, Brett Jones, Thad Jones, Scott Randolph, Luke Woods(NRFC), Zack Murphy (NRFC), Reysheid Mata (NRFC).
