Volunteers fall to St Mary's in consolation match
UT upended by #4 Gaels in back and forth match
April 19, 2009 (Marietta, Georgia) Tennessee couldn't hold St Mary's College out of the try zone in the final minutes and suffered defeat in the consolation match of the 2009 USA Rugby National Championship Tournament held on the campus of Life University. Showing great resiliency after a heartbreaking prior day defeat by Penn State, the Volunteers gave the highly ranked Gaels a good fight for 80 minutes. Unfortunately, as was the case on day one against Penn State, the Volunteers saw their opponent slip in the decisive try in the final minutes.
