Tennessee opened the fall season with two solid victories on the road at Ohio State University.

Weather and a high penalty count for both teams prevented any kind of sustain continuity in the first half.  Rain clouds rolled in right at kickoff.  The Vols took a 18-7 lead into the break thanks to 2 tries by senior lock Greg Janowick.

The Buckeyes were able to control field position for the first 20 minutes of the second half and were rewarded with 2 penalty kicks and a try to knot the score at 18-18.  Yellow cards came out for both teams and the Vols were eventually awarded a penalty try to regain the lead with 10 minutes to play.   The Buckeyes responded with an unconverted try.  Tennessee answered with a try and then held off OSU for the final minute to claim the victory: 30-23.

The UT Reserves ran across 2 tries in the final 10 minutes to pull away and secure the win to sweep the evening:  27-12.

Thanks to all the parents, fans, and supporters that made their way to Columbus to support the Vols.  Once again Rugby Vol Nation shows up in force and its very much appreciated.

On Sunday the Volunteers make a stop in Cincinnati to take on the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.  Kickoff is set for 1 PM with a reserve match to follow at the Brimelow Rugby Grounds.
