Vols add two more to the Fall 2018 commitment lists from separate sides of the country.
The Volunteers are pleased to announce the addition of Luke Davies to the Fall 2018 class. Luke comes to Knoxville from Weston, Connecticut where he played his rugby for the Aspetuck Valley Rugby Club. The 6'3", 195 lb scrumhalf will study engineering at Tennessee.
"Luke is a highly versatile HS rugby player, with 6 years of rugby experience. He has a high rugby IQ, good field vision, soft hands and a strong pass left and right. He is a key player on our Varsity team and 7s squad."
- Ray Weiner, HS Head Coach, Aspetuck Valley Rugby Club
Damian Hernandez has committed to the Volunteers and will be attending the University of Tennessee in the fall. From Roy, Washington, Damian is a 6'3", 215 lb lock/flanker for the Budd Bay Rugby Club. He will study Marketing at Tennessee.
"Tennessee is getting a great kid in Damian. Not starting with rugby until 11th grade, Damian picked up the game very quickly and set himself up for 1st side selection every week. He is an excellent lock and excellent jumper with a classic lock build. I have also found him to be a strong flanker. I generally play him on the open side where he a wreak havoc on the opposition backline. Damian is a student of the point of contact and is one of the best we have with rucking, counter rucking, and excellent poaching. He will be an asset to the University of Tennessee. "
- Dan Dillashaw, Head Coach Budd Bay Rugby Club
