Daniel Wells signed to play rugby with the University of Tennessee at a morning ceremony held at Hardin Valley Academy with other spring student athletes.
Wells has played rugby for the past two years for Bearden Rugby Club, The 5'11" 186 lb hooker and flanker has been a fixture on the first team since his first weeks of practice. Daniel's commitment doesn't come as a complete surprise. After all, his entire high school coaching staff has Tennessee ties and he was first recruited to play rugby by an English teacher three years ago who is an UT Rugby alumnus with a Tennessee match ball on display in his classroom.
Daniel will study Pre-Med at the University of Tennessee.
"Daniel Wells is one of the best teammates someone could ask for. Always present, always willing to help. Great on and off the field, Daniel was a staple of the State Championship sevens team this past fall. Daniel embodies the spirit maxim of family, school, rugby and he will be a great addition to UT rugby."
